About Contradicto
Contradicto is a live debate game show. You argue a motion out loud, and a studio audience of eleven AI jurors listens, reacts, and switches sides as your arguments land.
The idea
Arguing with friends is one of the oldest games there is. What it always lacked was an audience that actually listens. Contradicto gives you one: eleven jurors, each persuaded by something different, who hold up FOR and AGAINST cards while you talk. Win eight of them, or win the final verdict, and the crowd is yours.
Your voice is the controller. There are no buttons to mash. When your turn starts, you just talk, and the jury reacts to what you actually said. If you have no mic, or would rather not speak, you can type instead.
Who it is for
- Friends. Play online with a private code, or pass one phone around the couch. Settle “is a hot dog a sandwich” once and for all.
- Streamers. Streamer mode hides join codes, viewer links show the match with live captions, the OBS overlay drops every button, and in Versus Chat your Twitch chat picks the motion and becomes the jury.
- Debate clubs and classes. Tournament rooms keep standings, the winner stays on, and Vera fills an empty seat. It is a fast, low-stakes way to practice thinking on your feet.
- Anyone on their own. Vera, our AI debater, will take the other side of anything, from Friendly to Savage. And every day there is one Daily Debate for everyone, with one try each.
How the jury works
Each juror has a personality and something they care about, shown under their name. A retired judge wants solid evidence, an economist asks who pays, a nurse weighs the real human impact, a teen streamer falls for humor and swagger, and a professional skeptic punishes every dodged question. For each motion, some jurors start out leaning one way, each with a worry or a hope of their own; the rest start open. The jury always starts even, three FOR and three AGAINST, so neither side gets a head start. A leaning juror switches only when the other side answers their worry.
The jurors listen while you speak and react every few seconds, then think harder at the end of each turn. They reward rebuttals and plausible arguments, not volume: a long speech does not beat a sharp answer. After the last round, every juror must pick a side and say why, and the result screen shows their reasons.
How it stays fair
- Arguments, not tricks. Speaking for your opponent, faking their concession, posing as the moderator or the system, or ordering the jurors to vote wins nothing and costs you support. A normal “vote FOR the motion” at the end of a strong speech is fair.
- No forged turns. The transcript reaches the AI as structured data, so nobody can slip in a fake line from another speaker.
- Same skepticism for everyone. Unsourced numbers get the same doubt from both sides.
- The second speaker always gets a reply. Early wins are checked only after full rounds.
- Vera cannot win on volume. Each of her turns is capped at the length of your last one.
- Same jury for the same motion. Every match on a motion gets the same starting jury, which keeps the Daily Debate comparable.
- Clean for stream. Names, captions, motions, and AI output pass through a profanity and slur filter.
The jury is still an AI. It can misjudge an argument, and it is there to make a good show, not to rule on who is right.
What is AI here
Vera, the eleven jurors, and the announcer are AI. Everything they say or write is generated by AI models, and Vera’s voice is synthetic speech generated by AI, not a recording of a real person. The human debaters are real players. Clips made by the game carry an “AI-generated” label.
