How to play Contradicto
Contradicto is a debate game show you play with your voice, in the browser. Two debaters take turns at two podiums and argue one motion: one FOR, one AGAINST. Eleven AI jurors listen to every turn and move between the sides as the arguments land. Win eight of them, or win the final verdict after the last round.
There is nothing to install: it runs in current Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox, and Brave, on computers and phones. You get 3 free games every day you sign in.
Before the match
- Pick a motion. Choose one from four packs (Classic, Hot takes, Absurd, Tech) or write your own, which passes a safety check first.
- Pick a side. FOR or AGAINST.
- Pick a length. Quick (3 rounds) or Full (5 rounds), with turns of 30, 45, or 60 seconds.
- Get ready. The lobby shows your side and how the jury leans at the start, and you can take notes. The debate starts 5 seconds after everyone is ready.
During the match
When your turn starts, talk. Your words appear on screen as you speak, and the jury reacts to what you actually said. No mic? Type your turn instead, at the pace of speech.
- Rounds. In each round both sides speak once: FOR opens and AGAINST closes.
- The clock. Each turn lasts as long as the timer. Finish early and you can end your turn yourself.
The jury
Each of the eleven jurors cares about something different, shown under their name. Before the match, three lean FOR and three lean AGAINST, each with a worry or a hope; the other five start open, so the score starts at 3–3. A leaning juror switches only when the other side answers their worry.
The jury judges rebuttals and plausibility, not length. It treats unsourced numbers from both sides with the same skepticism, and it punishes tricks such as faking a concession or giving the jurors orders.
Winning
Early wins are checked only after full rounds, so the second speaker always gets a reply. After the last round, every juror picks a side and explains why. Brand-new claims in the final turn count for less, since the other side cannot answer them.
Five ways to play
- Versus Vera. Our AI debater: Friendly, Sharp, or Savage, from Easy to Hard. Her turns are capped at the length of yours, so she cannot win on volume.
- Friend online. Send a private code. You hear each other live while the jury listens.
- Same screen. Two players, one laptop or phone. Pass the mic between turns.
- Tournament. A room with a join code. The winner stays on, the next challenger rotates in, and the standings keep score.
- Versus Chat. For streamers: argue against Vera while your Twitch chat picks the motion and votes as the jury.
The Daily Debate
One motion a day for everyone, argued against Sharp Vera. One try each, so scores compare like a word puzzle.
Questions
How long is a match?
A quick match has three rounds and a full match five. Each turn lasts 30, 45, or 60 seconds, so a quick match takes only a few minutes.
Do I need a microphone?
You argue out loud, so a mic makes it a show. A phone or laptop mic is enough. If you cannot talk, you can type your turns instead.
Who decides who wins?
Eleven AI jurors. Each has its own priorities, and they switch sides during the match as the arguments land. Win eight of them, or the majority in the final verdict after the last round.
Is it free?
Yes. You get 3 free tokens every day you sign in, and one token hosts one game. Guests you invite play free.
